Bahrain Europe Environment Week commenced

Bahrain Europe Environment Week was inaugurated yesterday at ARCWH Headquarters in Manama under the patronage of the Supreme Council for Environment (SCE). The observation was organized by the embassies of France, Germany and Italy and the British Council in collaboration with the Arab Regional Centre for World Heritage (ARCWH), in which an array of workshops and seminars will take place till 28 May.
Director ARCWH Dr Mounir Bouchenaki, Chief Executive SCE Dr Mohamed Mubarak Bin Daina, French Ambassador Bernard Regnauld-Fabre and Head of EU delegation to Saudi Arabia Ambassador Adam Kulach addressed the gathering.
While speaking to DT News, Dr Mohamed Mubarak Bin Daina said that they were closely related to the European Union for the diversification of their economy. “They can help us technically and financially,” he argued. He said that they had achieved more than anybody expected but they needed a lot more help to move to the new sustainable energy. He said that they were working on energy adaptations and two pilot projects on solar energy were in the pipeline.
Head of Sustainable Development and Climate Change SCE, Noora Alamar said that they were going to create awareness about climate change through workshops and events during this week.
The programmes and workshops that will take place during the week has been designed to address the issue of sustainable development and climate change in light of the post 2015 Development Agenda.
During the observation, experts and delegates from Bahrain and Europe will discuss the measures and actions that need to take place in order to change the current situation and in particular new technologies that can contribute to sustainable development as well as capacity building and technology transfer solutions between Bahrain and the EU. The audience attending the sessions will also have the opportunity to contribute to the conversation and network in open and friendly environment.
The final event of the week will be screening of Disruption, a documentary film about Climate Change hosted by the Alliance Francaise on May 28 at 6 pm. The entire week is free of charge and open to the public.
