A gang jumped a man in the street, bashed him, grabbed his phone and cash, then scarpered.

Bloodied and rattled, he managed to flag down a bloke fixing his car, who tore after the attackers and pinned one down until the cops arrived.

The victim, an Asian man, had been walking when he ran into the group.

Words were exchanged over an old dispute, things flared up, and before he knew it, one had grabbed him from behind while the others belted him.

Another rifled through his pockets, nicking his phone and whatever cash he had.

Help

Shaken, he stumbled towards the road, spotting a man working on his car. Desperate, he called out for help. The passerby didn’t hesitate — he tore after the gang, managing to grab one and hold him until police arrived.

Prosecutors say the suspects worked together to stop the man from fighting back before robbing him.

They now face charges of theft by force.
