HM King awarded Prince Nayef Award for Arab Security

His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa has been awarded the Prince Nayef Award for Arab Security (First Class). This prestigious honour is given to heads of state and governments who have contributed to pioneering work leading to the provision of security and peace. The Arab Interior Ministers Council made this announcement during its 42nd session in Tunis on Sunday.
Tunisia President Kais Saied received the ministers at the presidential palace in Carthage, emphasising the importance of their meeting in enhancing joint Arab security cooperation.
His Excellency General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, the Interior Minister, led the Kingdom of Bahrain’s delegation to the session.
Presidency
The meeting was chaired by Kuwait’s Defense Minister Sheikh Abdullah Ali Abdullah Al Salem Al Sabah, who took over the presidency from Qatar’s Interior Minister Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, the previous session’s president. The meeting opened with a speech by the representative of the Tunisian President, followed by addresses from His Royal Highness Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Nayef bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Saudi Arabia’s Interior Minister and Honorary President of the Arab Interior Ministers Council, and Dr. Mohammed bin Ali Koman, Secretary-General of the Arab Interior Ministers Council.
In his address, General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah highlighted that the rapid digital and technological transformation witnessed globally necessitates keeping pace with these developments.
He emphasised that this imposes the need to expand the use of artificial intelligence applications in security fields.
Proposal
The Minister proposed tasking the Arab Expert Team on Information Technology Crimes to study the matter and work on developing a guiding manual for the optimal use of AI applications in security programmes.
General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah proposed two key initiatives: adopting an Arab strategy for public safety focusing on training civilians and volunteers, and expanding the use of AI applications in security fields.
