Bahrain Cabinet Reviews Key National and International Developments in Weekly Meeting

His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, chaired the weekly Cabinet Meeting today at Gudaibiya Palace, addressing a range of national and international matters.
Marking the 57th anniversary of the Bahrain Defence Force (BDF), the Cabinet commended the BDF’s progress in enhancing combat readiness, crediting the advancements to the continued support of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces. The Cabinet extended its best wishes for the BDF’s continued development.
The Cabinet also praised the success of the second edition of the Bapco Energies Bahrain Championship, held under the patronage of His Majesty the King. Expressing gratitude to sponsors, contributors, and organisers, the Cabinet wished them continued success in future events.
In recognition of World Interfaith Harmony Week, observed annually in the first week of February, the Cabinet reaffirmed Bahrain’s commitment to fostering communication, cooperation, and dialogue among various civilisations, cultures, and religions. Under the leadership of His Majesty the King, the Kingdom continues to champion values of tolerance and coexistence for the benefit of humanity.
Additionally, the Cabinet highlighted the strong participation in the sixth edition of the Government Innovation Competition, Fikra. Following a review of the Government Executive Committee’s memorandum on the proposed concepts, ministries and government agencies were directed to assess the feasibility of incorporating these innovative ideas into their development projects.
On the occasion of Bahrain Sports Day, the Cabinet announced that Thursday, 20 February 2025, will be a half-working day for all ministries and government agencies to encourage employee participation in sports activities.
Emphasising the importance of bilateral ties, the Cabinet welcomed the upcoming official visit of Her Excellency Giorgia Meloni, Prime Minister of the Italian Republic, acknowledging her role in strengthening cooperation and coordination between Bahrain and Italy.
In observance of National Environment Day, celebrated on 4 February, the Cabinet reiterated its commitment to sustainability by adopting projects and programmes that support environmental goals and enhance community participation in conservation efforts.
Cabinet Approvals
The Cabinet approved several key memorandums, including:
* Digital Transformation: The launch of the e-Key 2.0 and My Government application, providing access to essential government services such as ID card, passport, driving license, vehicle ownership, residency, birth certificate, vehicle registration, and medical appointments.
* International Engagements: Approval of Bahrain’s memberships, subscriptions, and contributions to international organisations.
* Legislative Updates: A draft law on secured transactions.
* Economic Agreements: Approval of Qatar and Türkiye’s accession to the Integrated Industrial Partnership for Sustainable Economic Development and authorisation for the signing of a Free Trade Agreement between the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and New Zealand.
* Parliamentary Collaboration: The government’s response to three proposals submitted by the Council of Representatives.
Ministerial Reports
The Cabinet reviewed reports on Bahrain’s participation in:
* The 50th anniversary of the Arab Energy Fund.
* The 50th edition of the Arab Health Exhibition and Congress 2025.
* The General Secretariat of the Council of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs ceremony for the first Arab Day of Older Persons and Arab Volunteer Day.
* Various external visits and international delegations hosted in February 2025.
The meeting concluded with directives to ensure the implementation of the approved initiatives, reinforcing Bahrain’s commitment to national development and international cooperation.
