Bahrain to Build World-Class Golf Course at Rashid Equestrian and Horse Racing Club
As part of its ongoing development initiatives to enhance Bahrain’s position as a leading destination for sports tourism, the Rashid Equestrian and Horse Racing Club has announced plans to construct a world-class golf course in the Al Raffa area.
The agreement for the project was signed in the presence of Mr. Yousif Osama Buhijji, CEO of the Rashid Equestrian and Horse Racing Club, Mr. Yousif Buhejji, CEO of Bareeq Al Ritaj Real Estate, and Spanish golf star Sergio García, who will serve as both the designer and brand ambassador of the new golf course. The agreement includes the design and execution of the golf course as part of the club’s overall development plan.
On this occasion, Mr. Yousif Buhijji emphasized the significance of the golf course project as a strategic initiative under the guidance of the Supreme Authority of the Rashid Equestrian and Horse Racing Club, led by His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa. He highlighted that the project aligns with efforts to implement various development plans that will enhance the club’s status as a distinguished sports destination, supporting both the sports and tourism sectors while contributing to Bahrain’s economic growth.
Mr. Yousif Buhejji expressed his pride in Bareeq Al Ritaj Real Estate’s role in executing this major project, which will be one of Bahrain’s largest sports facilities. He noted that the golf course will further elevate the Rashid Equestrian and Horse Racing Club’s ability to host international horse racing events, reinforcing Bahrain’s reputation as a prime location for global sporting events, including golf championships. He added that the new golf course will be among the largest in Bahrain, featuring 18 holes and adhering to the highest international standards.
As part of this partnership, professional Spanish golfer Sergio García visited Bahrain to review the course’s design plans and explore opportunities for media and promotional collaboration.
Notably, Sergio García is one of the world’s most renowned golfers, having turned professional in 1999. He boasts an impressive career with 36 international titles, including the 2008 Players Championship and the 2017 Masters Tournament. He also reached second place in the world rankings after winning the 2008 International Championship.
