Three Asian nationals will stand trial in the High Criminal Court on February 17, 2025, on human trafficking charges.
They are accused of luring an Asian woman to Bahrain under false pretenses of employment, only to exploit her.
Criminal activity
The defendants’ criminal activity came to light following investigation launched by the General Directorate of Criminal Investigations and Forensic Evidence.
The investigation unearthed how the suspects allegedly lured the victim with promises of employment in a beauty salon.
Upon arrival in Bahrain, the victim was instead held against her will, forced into undisclosed illegal activities, and subjected to both physical and psychological coercion.
Investigation
The Public Prosecutor’s Office immediately launched an investigation.
This included taking a statement from the victim, who was thereafter placed in a shelter operated by the National Committee to Combat Human Trafficking.
Investigators also questioned the three arrested suspects and issued a warrant for the arrest of a fourth individual who remains at large.
Account
Police investigations confirmed the victim’s account. After reviewing all evidence, the Public Prosecutor’s Office has formally charged the three arrested suspects with human trafficking and referred the case to the High Criminal Court for trial.
The trial is scheduled to begin on February 17, 2025. The ongoing search for the fourth suspect continues.
