Pak ship PNS Tippu in Bahrain

Pakistani ship PNS Tippu Sultan will visit Bahrain next week for five days, Pakistan Embassy Bahrain has confirmed.

Head of Chancery at Pakistan Embassy, Muhammad Ahad, said PNS Tippu Sultan would arrive Bahrain on  December 20 and will leave on December 24. It will be anchored at Mina Salman Port.

“This visit is part of Pakistan’s strong defence cooperation with the Kingdom of Bahrain,” said Ahad.

During its visit, the ship crew will call on the Ambassador of Pakistan Muhammad Saeed Khan. Besides participating in other activities, they will hold meetings with the officials of Bahrain Navy.

They will also host an official onboard dinner reception for the Bahraini and Pakistani dignitaries.

PNS Tippu Sultan has been named after Sultan Fateh Ali Tippu, the ruler of Indian state of Mysore, who sacrificed his life fighting the British Army. This is the third ship to carry this name in the Pakistani Navy.

Pakistan Navy acquired the vessel in 1994 and it underwent major modifications and upgrades after its induction.
