Bahraini citizens may soon be exempt from paying traffic service fees as Parliament prepares to debate a proposal next Tuesday.

Introduced by MP Dr. Ali Majid Al Nuaimi, the proposal seeks to eliminate charges for services provided by the General Directorate of Traffic. Supporters argue that this would ease the financial burden on citizens and improve compliance with traffic regulations.

The Ministry of Interior, however, has expressed concerns, noting that the fees cover costs for services such as documentation and licensing, which benefit individuals directly. Waiving the fees could affect government revenue and fiscal goals.

The Parliament’s Foreign Affairs, Defence, and National Security Committee has reviewed the proposal and will move forward with discussions.
