Tojjar 18 Bloc enters BCCI board poll fray

ManamaTojjar 18 bloc, representing several businessmen and women, will run for the 29th board of the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) election this March, Samir Abdulla Nass, head of the bloc said yesterday.

The Tojjar 18 bloc is the biggest commercial alliance so far to run BCCI’s elections with 15 members including two businesswomen. Beside Samir Nass, the bloc includes two businesswomen, Batool Mohammed Dadabhai, Sonya Mohammed Janahi, along with Dr. Abdul Majeed Ali Al Awadhi, Mohammed Abdul Jabbar Al Kooheji, Khalid Mohammed Najibi, Dr. Mohammed Ahmed Jumaan, Waleed Ebrahim Kanoo, Entrepreneur Engineer Aaref Ahmed Hejres, Entrepreneur Abdulhamid Abdulhussain Al Asfoor, Entrepreneur Uzair Mohammed Usman, Professor Waheeb Al Khajah, Fareed Bader, Business Leader Basem Mohammed Al Saie and Entrepreneur Jameel Al Ganah. Shedding light on the nature and formation of the Tojar 18 bloc, Nass said: “It is a group of dedicated business leaders and entrepreneurs with cumulative experiences in diversified sectors and industries with strong track records, achievements and knowledge. Entrepreneurs that built their businesses and faced challenges and adversity with local, regional and global partnership, as well as running successful businesses covering all business categories form large entitles with thousands of employees to medium and small operations (SME’s)”.

“The national economy is facing unprecedented challenges that requires a qualitative alliance between businesses and merchants at different levels, with support from conglomerates and small and medium-sized enterprises, beside close coordination and cooperation between authorities and relevant national bodies in the country to face the challenges with the sense of responsibility and common interest,” said Nass. 

“The only difference between local challenges, regional and international challenges is related to modern management methods, leaderships ability to manage crisis and the state’s position in the circle of action and reaction,” he said. Nass stressed that the main objective of the bloc is to transform BCCI into an influential partner in economic decision-making, by becoming a real representative to its members.
