CRs suspended for illegal display of advertisements
Manama : Northern Area Municipality has suspended Commercial Registrations (CR) of several establishments for illegal display of advertisements in public places.
“There are advertising companies that use specially allocated sites for commercial advertisements without obtaining the necessary license. The CRs of these companies have been suspended and steps have been taken to refer them to legal affairs department in the municipality,” said Northern Area Municipality General Director Yousif Al Ghatam.
Al Ghatam confirmed that the inspection department in the municipality detected around 250 violations in the period between April and June this year.
“The municipality shall remove the illegal advertisements and report the companies to legal affairs, which would communicate with them to remove the ads and pay fines of up to BD300. We have removed over 140 violating advertisements in different parts of the governorate. Last year, 811 violations were removed in the same period. This is a noticeable decrease, reflecting the effectiveness of the campaigns launched by the municipality,” Al Ghatam said.
The official added that the municipality has also launched several other campaigns to eradicate unwanted phenomena such as illegal street vendors, abandoned cars in public places, illegal tents and other violations.
DT News reported in March that the municipality carried out similar procedures, suspending the businesses of over 90 establishments for the same reasons.
