Top drivers to battle it out in Bahrain International Circuit

ManamaSome of the region’s top motor racing talents are set to showcase their skills in National Race Day tomorrow at Bahrain International Circuit (BIC) in Sakhir.

The event is a triple-header, with the BIC 2,000cc Challenge, the Bahrain Superbike Championship (BSBK) and the Bahrain Motorcycle Racing (BMR) 600 all roaring into action and holding the third round of their respective 2016/2017 seasons, with all the action on BIC’s 2.550-kilometre Inner Track.

The BIC 2,000cc features a grid of no less than 10 participants, including defending champion Shaikh Salman bin Isa bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa.

Other top contenders include Hussain Karimi, Raed Himmo and Mohamed Faqihi, while the rest of the pack includes Ramzi Al Qassab, Mohammed Janahi, Michael Priester, Mansour Al Hajri, Abdullah Al Gaoud and Lee Stones.

Shaikh Hamad bin Isa bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa, who won both races in the previous round is uncertain to be taking part. In the BSBK, Mishal Alneaimi will be looking to continue his dominant run this season winning five of six races this season held so far, with Mike “Spike” Edwards the other winner.

They will both be looking to make an impact in the coming round along with Mohammed Al Khalifa, Salman Khalaf and Abdulghaffar Albastaki. The field of 12 is set to be completed by Fahad Alsuwaidi, Ruben Bacha, Fahad Al Gharabally, Ali Alshammari, Nasir Hussein and Ahmed Almuyini.

Action is underway from 9.50am and concludes at around 5pm. Tickets are available at the gate at BD2 for adults and BD1 for children.

Action tomorrow begins at 9.50am with BSBK Practice. The Superbikers move on to Qualifying at 11.30am, after which Race One is scheduled for 1.32pm and Race Two at 3.12pm. The 2,000cc Challenge begins at 10.50am with Practice, Qualifying at 12.20pm with Race One at 2.31pm and Race Two at 4.11pm.

The BMR 600 starts at 10.25am for Practice, then 11.55am for Qualifying with Race One at 2.01pm and Race Two at 3.41pm.
