In February 2008, the Federal Foreign Office launched the “Schools: Partners for the Future” (PASCH) initiative. The initiative strengthens and connects a worldwide network of more than 1,800 partnerships with a special commitment to Germany. In young people, this is intended to arouse lasting interest and enthusiasm for modern Germany and the German language - particularly in the main regions of Asia, the Middle East and Central and Eastern Europe.

The Federal Foreign Office coordinates the partnership initiatives and implements them together with the Central Office for Foreign Education, the Goethe Institute, the German Academic Exchange Service and the Educational Exchange Service of the Conference of Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs.
