Abu Dhabi: The UAE Ministry of Community Empowerment has activated a Dh100 million Non-Profit Organisations Empowerment Fund to strengthen and expand the role of charities and public benefit organisations in the country.

The fund introduces a performance-based system, moving away from general support to more targeted funding with measurable outcomes.

New organisations can receive up to Dh500,000 to build capacity and start programmes, while more established groups may receive up to Dh5 million to scale their initiatives and increase impact.

Shamma bint Sohail Al Mazrouei, Minister of Community Empowerment said the initiative reflects the UAE leadership’s goal of strengthening community cohesion and supporting national development.

The fund will focus on areas such as education, health, family support, volunteering, community development, and environmental and animal welfare projects.

Applications are open to eligible UAE-registered non-profits, with the first cycle running until May 31, 2026. Projects will be evaluated based on capacity, expected impact, and financial viability.

Officials said the programme aims to encourage cooperation between government, non-profits, and the private sector to deliver long-term benefits for communities.
