Australia Rejects Calls to Help Reopen Strait of Hormuz with Naval Vessels

MELBOURNE: Australia has declined to deploy naval vessels to the Strait of Hormuz, as confirmed by Infrastructure Minister Catherine King. In a statement, King emphasized that while the government recognizes the strategic importance of the waterway, Australia has not been formally asked to participate and is not contributing ships to the effort.
This decision aligns Australia with Japan, which also recently announced it has no plans to send warships to the region. Both nations' positions come in response to efforts by US President Donald Trump to pressure allied countries into providing military support to secure the vital maritime route.
