Bhavans- Bahrain Indian School (BIS) students, Darwina Manoj Amarnath of Grade 11 and Sriya Anish Pulinamparambil of Grade 10, have been awarded the title of “Most Promising Project” at the National Children’s Science Congress (NCSC) under the mentorship of Science faculty Shyamala Prakash.

Their innovative project, titled “Algolith,” has also been recognized as the best in Bahrain during the Bahrain Science Innovation Congress, organized by the Science International Forum, which played a pivotal role in qualifying them for participation in the NCSC.

The students’ remarkable achievement is particularly noteworthy, as they are the sole representatives from Bahrain at this international event. Their journey to the NCSC began with their success at the Bahrain Science Innovation Congress (BSIC), a prestigious competition that serves as a precursor to the NCSC, providing students from Bahrain a platform to showcase their scientific endeavors to a distinguished panel of judges.

The National Children’s Science Congress (NCSC) brought together young minds from across India and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries to showcase their innovative projects. This year’s event was inaugurated by the esteemed Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Dr. Mohan Yadav, who emphasized the importance of nurturing scientific talent among the youth.

Competing at the senior level among numerous reputed CBSE schools in Bahrain, Darwina and Sriya emerged as winners of the BSIC, making them the only team to qualify for the next stage at the NCSC.

This year, the NCSC featured an impressive 690 projects submitted by participants representing all states of India and GCC countries.

The school Directors Himanshu Verma and Ritu Verma and Principal Saji Jacob expressed their pride in the students’ achievements, highlighting the importance of such initiatives in inspiring future scientists.

Himanshu Verma remarked, ‘Participation in the National Children’s Science Congress not only enhances the students’ knowledge but also encourages them to think critically and solve real-world problems.”

Ritu Verma further stated “We are grateful to the Science International Forum for conducting the BSIC, which has provided our students with this remarkable opportunity to shine on a national stage and then the international one.”
