Top Bahrain riders excel in prestigious ride

Under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of HM the King for Humanitarian Works and Youth Affairs and Honourary President of Bahrain Royal Equestrian and Endurance Federation (BREEF), crowned yesterday Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa of Victorious team as the champion of the 160km race, which was held as part of HM the King’s Cup Endurance Ride Championship.

Present in the event were HH Shaikh Faisal bin Rashid Al Khalifa, Vice-President of the Supreme Council for the Environment and Vice President of the High Committee at Rashid Equestrian and Horse Racing Club, and HH Shaikh Isa bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, President of BREEF.

HM the King’s Cup Endurance Ride Championship concluded yesterday, having taken place at Bahrain International Endurance Village amid broad participation. Hamad Janahi of the KHK team came second, while Abdulrahman Al Zayed of the Victorious team finished third. HH Shaikh Nasser also crowned the top three winners of the 120km race which was for local stables.

Hamad Al Boluchi of Al Ajyal stable triumphed in the event, and he was followed by Sultan Al Hadrami of Al Asayel stable and Mohammed Al Subaie of RM stable, respectively. On this occasion, HH Shaikh Nasser affirmed that the sponsorship and interest of HM the King in endurance sport have been the key pillar of its development and prosperity throughout the years.

He pointed out that the endurance sport has become a real front for Bahrain at international levels, where the Kingdom has made various honourable accomplishments thanks to the vision of HM the King to support this sport and patronise it.

Furthermore, HH Shaikh Nasser pointed out that the strong competition featured in the races is a clear sign of the keenness of jockeys and stables to confirm the high level of HM the King’s Cup Endurance Ride Championship which is the best endurance event in the Kingdom’s annual calendar.

Moreover, HH Shaikh Nasser praised the great displays showcased by the jockeys in the races. It is worth noting that Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa posted six hours, 46 minutes and 25 seconds to win the main race of the championship.

He was nine minutes ahead of the runner-up, while the third-place winner Al Zayed clocked 6:58:42. In the 120km for local stables, Al Boluchi completed the race in 5:03:50, three minutes ahead of Al Hadrami and seven minutes in front of Al Subaie.
