Bahrain’s Alkhaled wraps up Rotax practices in first place

Bahrain’s Fahad Alkhaled powered to the top of the timesheet today as the non-qualifying practices wrapped up in the Rotax MAX Challenge Grand Finals 2021, being held at Bahrain International Karting Circuit (BIKC) in Sakhir with over 400 participants from 75 countries taking part.

Alkhaled set the pace in the week’s seventh and final practice session.

He had the fastest lap of 53.691 seconds around BIKC’s 1.414-kilometre CIK-FIA Track.

Alkhaled was competing in the Senior MAX category amongst the even-numbered competitors.

Amongst the odd-numbered karters, Bahrain’s Lewis Smith finished their session classified sixth with a best lap of 53.804s while Fahad Almuqla came 19th in the same session with a 54.035s mark.

In the DD2 Masters class, Mohammed Mattar came third with the fastest lap of 53.485s. In the Mini MAX category, Luca Kane Houghton was classified fifth in the session for odd-numbered competitors.

He had the best time of 58.703s.

Fellow- Bahrain karters Shanthosh Kumar and Khaled Najjar followed in 21st and 30th, respectively. Shanthosh had the quickest lap of 59.166s and Khaled clocked a 59.500s time.

For the even-numbered karters, Charles Goddard had a 59.359s lap for 31st in practice seven, while Gracie Rose Grantham followed in 32nd with a mark of 59.426s.

For the Junior MAX entrants, Bahrain’s Abdulqader Qasem came 36th with a best lap of 55.995s in the session for odd numbers, while Tye Mejia was 28th amongst the even-numbered karters with a 55.278s quickest lap.

The field will next be competing in the qualifying heats until Thursday, after which the Pre-Finals will be held on Friday and then the Finals on Saturday...
