Bahrain battered Kuwait 106-51 in Doha yesterday, racking up their second win in two games in the Gulf qualifiers for the FIBA U18 Asia Cup.

There was no let-up after the break. Bahrain pushed the score to 85-37 by the end of the third quarter before closing out a 55-point win.

Somto Patrick Onoduenyi led the scoring with 18 points and pulled down 15 rebounds in only 20 minutes. He also had four assists, two steals and two blocks.

Hassan Abdulkadir scored 17 points and grabbed nine rebounds, while Mahdi Habib added 13 points, six rebounds and seven assists.

Yousif Meshaal and Ali Khalil each scored 10 points. Khalil also took 11 rebounds, giving him a double-double.

The win came a day after Bahrain beat Saudi Arabia 62-54 and keeps them unbeaten after two matches.

Kuwait, beaten 62-59 by Oman in their first game, have now lost twice.

The five-team event is being played at Al Gharafa Sports Club Arena in Doha in a single round-robin format. The top three sides will qualify for the FIBA U18 Asia Cup in Ahmedabad, India, from August 13 to 23.

Bahrain face Oman on Monday before meeting hosts Qatar in their last game on Thursday.
