Dar Kulaib rally past Al Seeb

Dar Kulaib recovered from a first-set setback to secure a 3–1 victory over Oman’s Al Seeb in their opening match of the fourth WAVA Men’s Clubs Volleyball Championship in Kuwait City.

The Bahraini side dropped the opening set 31–33 before taking control of the contest, winning the next three sets 25–15, 25–20, 25–16 at the Kuwaiti Volleyball Federation Hall. Captain Mahmoud Abdulwahed led the response, supported by a solid defensive display and a strong collective attacking effort.

Kenyan professional Enock Mogeni played a central role in the turnaround, providing consistent scoring options at the net. Al Seeb, despite contributions from Ismail Al Haidi and two foreign professionals from Portugal and Russia, struggled to contain Dar Kulaib’s momentum once the Bahrainis settled into the match.

The result placed Dar Kulaib in a positive position in Group C, which also includes Saudi Arabia’s Ittihad Club and Kuwait’s Burgan SC. Dar Kulaib face Burgan tomorrow at 4pm before closing their group campaign against Ittihad on Sunday at 2pm, Bahrain time.

Attention now shifts back to Al Ahli, who continue their Group B schedule today against Lebanon’s CJS Batroun at 2pm. The Bahrain champions enter the match with confidence after their straight-sets win over Qatar’s Al Wakrah in their opener. Batroun, meanwhile, lost their first match 3–0 to hosts Kuwait SC.

Al Ahli will complete their preliminary round on Sunday with a 6pm meeting against Kuwait SC. The top two teams from each pool, plus the two best third-placed sides, advance to the quarter-finals on 10 February, with the tournament concluding on 14 February.
