In a display of sheer individual brilliance, Praveen Prakash single-handedly dismantled Union CC, guiding Cricket Jousters to a comprehensive 6-wicket victory with a staggering 25 balls to spare. Chasing a modest target of 125, the Jousters' innings was a one-man show, with Prakash remaining unconquered on a magnificent 95 runs from just 55 deliveries, an innings peppered with 6 fours and a colossal 7 sixes.
The match, played at Ground G-05, saw Union CC win the toss and elect to bat, a decision they would ultimately rue as their batting lineup failed to build any substantial partnerships against a disciplined Jousters bowling attack.
Union CC's innings was a story of starts but no finish. After losing opener Albin Bensikar Sasikumar for a golden duck on the first ball of the match, a couple of batsmen got into the 20s but failed to convert. Rajesh Kalimuthu provided the only resistance with a steady, unbeaten 30 from 27 balls.
The star with the ball for Cricket Jousters was Gowtham Baskaran, who delivered a match-defining spell. His 4 wickets for just 21 runs in his 4 overs, including the crucial scalps of Porchilamban, Prasanth Xavier, and Muhammad Rafi, crippled Union CC's middle order and restricted them to a below-par total of 124/8.
The chase began with a minor hiccup as Akshay Jayan was dismissed for 7. However, from that point on, it was the Praveen Prakash exhibition. He took charge of the innings from the very first ball he faced, mixing calculated aggression with brute force. He found little support from the other end, with Sajeer M K (3/13) ironically being the only other Jouster to make a significant contribution by taking three wickets, but it didn't matter.
Prakash's assault was relentless. He targeted every bowler, dispatching the ball to all parts of the ground with remarkable ease. His strike rate of 172.73 showcased a level of dominance rarely seen, turning a potential chase into a mere formality. He fittingly sealed the victory, finishing just five runs short of a century, as Cricket Jousters raced to 128/4 in just 15.5 overs.
Praveen Prakash (Cricket Jousters) - 95 (55 balls, 6x4, 7x6)*
There was never any doubt. In a match where no other batsman from either side crossed 30, Prakash's blistering, unbeaten 95 was a knock of a different class, rightly earning him the Player of the Finale Match award.
