Last night, it was officially announced that the Kingdom of Bahrain will host the next edition of the Arab Games in 2027. HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, first deputy chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sport (SCYS), chairman of the General Sports Authority, and president of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, congratulated His Majesty King Hamad and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, on Bahrain being awarded the honour of hosting the multi-sport event for the first time in its history.

HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, SCYS chairman and representative of HM the King in youth and humanitarian affairs, also extended his congratulations to HM King Hamad, praising the kingdom’s continued support for sports and youth development.

The flag of the Arab Games 2027 was officially handed over to Shaikh Khalid by Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki bin Faisal Al Saud, Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Sports and president of the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee. The handover ceremony took place during the general assembly of the Union of Arab National Olympic Committees in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, coinciding with the ongoing sixth Islamic Solidarity Games.

The 2027 Arab Games will be the 14th edition of the event, following the previous games held in Algeria in 2023, and will mark a historic first for Bahrain as a host nation.
