Abhishek Sharma’s explosive 74 off 39 balls set the platform as India chased down Pakistan’s 171 with six wickets and seven balls to spare in their T20 clash yesterday.
Chasing 172, Abhishek and Shubman Gill (47 off 28) tore into Pakistan’s attack during a blistering 105-run opening stand inside 10 overs. Abhishek, who smashed six fours and five sixes, reached his fifty from just 24 balls before falling to Abrar Ahmed. Gill soon followed, but Tilak Varma’s unbeaten 30 and Hardik Pandya’s steady hand ensured India crossed the line at 174-4 in 18.5 overs.
Earlier, Sahibzada Farhan anchored Pakistan’s innings with a composed 58 off 45 balls, supported by cameos from Saim Ayub (21), Mohammad Nawaz (21) and Faheem Ashraf (20 not out). Pakistan finished on 171-5, despite Shivam Dube (2-33) and Kuldeep Yadav (1-31) picking timely wickets.
Haris Rauf (2-26) was Pakistan’s standout bowler, but the pace duo of Shaheen Afridi and Saim Ayub leaked runs heavily. The result left Pakistan ruing missed chances after a promising start, while India celebrated another convincing victory in their storied rivalry.
