A sleepy village in Norfolk, England, turned into a lively hub of fun and laughter as it hosted the 2025 World Snail Racing Championships. What started as a small local tradition in the 1960s has now become a beloved annual event, drawing snail lovers from across the globe.

With a cheerful crowd gathered around a circular racing track, the event kicked off with its signature phrase: “Ready. Steady. Slow.” From there, the snails began their slow and steady journey toward the finish line, each inching along to the cheers of their proud handlers.

Stealing the spotlight this year was a snail with a lot of character – Bilbo Sluggins. The rented racer not only had a name to remember but also managed to win over the audience with its charm and surprisingly competitive pace.

While the race might be slow, the joy it brings is instant. Full of laughs, friendly competition, and quirky tradition, the World Snail Racing Championships continue to prove that sometimes, the slowest races are the most fun to watch.
