Bahrain’s men’s and women’s athletics team is in Gumi, South Korea, for the 26th Asian Athletics Championships, running May 27 to 31. Leading the delegation is Yousif Ahmed, General Secretary of the Bahrain Athletics Federation, alongside team manager Mohammed Abdulaziz and administrator Ahmed Mohammed. The technical staff includes coaches Matron Ma Simo, Issam Nema, and Yasser Fathi Faraj, with physiotherapists Bishar Khalifa and Diaa Aldin Hassan Adam.
Strong Squad, Big Goals
The squad features Albert Rob (5,000m, 10,000m), Abdulrahman Mahmoud (shot put), Abbas Yousif Ali (400m), Abdulghani Mohammed (5,000m, 10,000m), Viola Jemgbo (10,000m), Oluwaseyi Adekoya (400m, 400m hurdles), and Zainab Moussa (400m). They face stiff competition from Asia’s top athletes, all vying for medals and qualification for the Tokyo World Championships in September.

On the sidelines, the Asian Athletics Association will hold its general assembly, board meetings, and an awards ceremony honoring Olympic, world, and Asian medalists across age groups. Coaches and administrators will also receive recognition to fuel competitive spirit and inspire future stars.
