Jack Della Maddalena is the new king of the UFC welterweight division. The 28-year-old Australian delivered a composed and calculated performance to defeat Belal Muhammad by unanimous decision (48-47, 48-47, 49-46) in the main event of UFC 315 in Montreal.

Facing a seasoned opponent riding a six-year unbeaten streak, Della Maddalena used sharp striking and impeccable takedown defense to control the majority of the fight. Despite Muhammad’s relentless pressure and wrestling pedigree, the Perth native kept the bout standing, where his crisp boxing dictated the pace.

"I was gunning for a finish, but Belal is a tough dude," Della Maddalena said post-fight. "I had to stay sharp on my feet."

The defining moment came in the final round, when Della Maddalena landed a brutal knee that left Muhammad bloodied. The American responded with a takedown and flurry of ground strikes, but the Australian roared back to his feet and unloaded with heavy punches as the bout reached its thrilling end.

This win marked Della Maddalena’s 18th consecutive win, and he now sets his sights on revenge for his countryman. "I want to get him back for Volk," he said, calling out pound-for-pound king and lightweight champion Islam Makhachev.

In the co-main event, Kyrgyz flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko retained her belt with a hard-fought unanimous decision over France’s Manon Fiorot, handing her first career loss after a twelve-fight win streak.
