Field visits by the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism’s Inspection Department to various markets in the governorates have confirmed the availability and diversity of food commodities. The Ministry’s inspection teams visited central markets and shops, revealing an abundance and diversity of products, such as meat, vegetables, and fruits in supermarkets, or essential food commodities such as cooking oil, eggs, rice, sugar and other products in shops. They also kept an eye out for any signs that specific commodities would become scarce or their prices might rise, noting the causes so that the Ministry can take the appropriate steps to guarantee the smooth flow of commodities in markets and the stability of their pricing.

Al Ashraf said the visits also aim to verify compliance with the laws governing the display and sale of goods and products, as well as the matching of the price placed on the commodity with its price at points of sale. It also aims at ensuring the validity of promotional offers and ensuring that there are no violations of commercial fraud, and that when monitoring any violations, legal measures are taken in accordance with the applicable laws and regulations.

Al Ashraf urged all consumers to report any violations, observations, or indications of scarcity of commodities, particularly food commodities, or related complaints to the Ministry’s Inspection Department or Consumer Protection Department, or through the national system for complaints and suggestions.
