The Public Prosecution ruled out foul play in the death of a Canadian professional basketball player who was found dead in his Juffair apartment.

Kenny Ejim, born in Brampton, Ontario in Canada, in 1994, has been playing in the Kingdom this season with Al Najma Club.

The club confirmed his passing last week posting an image of Ejim on social media with a message “Rest in Peace”. Following thorough investigations, the Public Prosecution announced that his death happened due to natural causes after examining his body and hearing witnesses as well as reviewing his medical history.

“His body didn’t have any injury marks, while investigations found that the deceased was taking prescribed medications as he was facing an illness.

The same medications were found in his apartment,” the Public Prosecution stated in a statement.

Ejim had just played in a national league game with Najma on Friday the week before his death.

According to multiple sources, the team was given a day off on Sunday after the game, but Ejim was missing from practice on Monday night without informing the club of his absence.

Teammates attempted to contact him but got no reply.

Ejim’s fellow professional on Najma decided to go to his home on the day he was found dead to check on him.

The teammate, who reportedly lives in the same building, did not receive a response upon reaching Ejim’s apartment and decided to break the door down.

This is when Ejim’s body was found,  the sources said.
