135 plant varieties produced in Hoarat A’ali incubator: Al Hawaj

Bahrain Agricultural Incubators in Hoarat A’ali had made remarkable strides by growing 135 plant varieties, said a top Works Ministry official yesterday.
“These include indoor and outdoor plants, ornamental trees, fruits, medicinal plants, trees and shrubs,” said Ibrahim Hassan Al-Hawaj, the Undersecretary for Agriculture and Marine Resources at the Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning.
“The centre serves as a platform for agricultural experiments, in addition to training local people and entrepreneurs in the sector,” he added.
“We have launched training programmes in soilless cultivation, multiplication of fruit and ornamental trees and their care, plant protection, modern agricultural practises and irrigation methods.”
The Agriculture and Marine Resources Agency, he said, is currently working on identifying best practices for local production of crops suitable for the climate here.
