Gold traders’ issues to be addressed: Governor
Manama
Capital Governor Shaikh Hisham bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa stressed on the importance of addressing the challenges of the gold industry and the gold dealers in Manama Souq on Thursday.
During a visit to the shops in the gold market, along with Deputy Capital Governor Hassan Abdulla Al-Madani and a number of officials, the Capital Governor discussed with the dealers their issues including the necessity of expanding the work base of goldsmith workshops by granting them additional space, particularly in Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI)’s old building.
In the meeting, the traders expressed their objection to transferring their workshops to the area in Bahrain International Exhibition & Convention Centre (BIECC). They said that it would adversely affect their work owing to the far distance between BIECC and Manama market. The dealers highlighted the need for more parking lots.
“It would revive the commercial movement in the market and serve the gold traders in the promotion of their industry.” The governor expressed his keenness on submitting the needs of the gold market traders to the concerned authorities. He also lauded the efforts of the dealers to boost the gold industry.
