Warm welcome for Bahrain’s youth volleyball team

Manama : Bahrain’s youth volleyball team were given a special welcome on return from Amman, Jordan after winning the 14th Junior Arab Volleyball Championship recently.

Bahrain clinched the championship after defeating Oman 3-0 in the final after winning the sets, 25-20, 25-14 and 25-18. It was Bahrain’s third Arab title in four championships – they had won it in 2011 in Egypt and in 2013 in Tunisia.

Both Hassan Al Shakhori and Mohammed Jassim won best position three awards, while the overall player award went to Mohammed Al Abbar.

Bahrain Olympic Committee board member Shaikha Hayat bint Abdulaziz Al Khalifa, along with BOC Sports Affairs executive director Abduljalil Asad and the Bahrain Volleyball Association delegation, headed by vice-president Jehad Khalfan welcomed the team on arrival.

Shaikha Hayat congratulated members of the team on this victory, who have showed dominance in regional volleyball competition in the past years.

She also noted the achievement of the team winning four individual awards at the championship, including Mohammed Harwana, who won the best setter award in the championship.
