BOC General Assembly on June 13

Manama : The General Assembly of the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) for the next electoral cycle has been scheduled for June 13, the committee announced yesterday.

Candidates will be allowed to submit their entries for the new term, which will continue until 2020. Nominations for board of directors’ membership started last Sunday, while the last date to accept nominations is May 23.

BOC has sent invitations to all 28 national sports federations under its umbrella, in addition to the Athletes Commission members to attend the General Assembly, with the venue to be decided.

Supreme Council for Youth and Sports deputy general secretary and Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) general secretary Abdulrahman Askar said regulations of the elections gives seven seats for the BOC board of directors, in addition to one from one of the sports federations certified by the International Olympic Committee, and one more for the VIP sports personnel.

Askar said the committee was ready to host this gathering after completing all arrangements and legal procedures. He thanked all sports federations for their cooperation to ensure the success of the upcoming General Assembly to the development of sports in the kingdom.
