Manama central market gears up for summer

ManamaIn a move providing solace to both market-goers and venders alike, the authorities have successfully completed the installation of air-conditioners in the Manama central meat and fish markets.

Capital General Secretariat (formerly municipality) officials who visited the markets yesterday confirmed that the air conditioners would start functioning soon.

The visiting team, headed by the General Director of the Secretariat Shaikh Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, stated that “tenders will be announced soon to replace the shops in the market and repave its parking lots”.

Shaikh Mohammed also followed up on the processes of installing thermal insulation materials on the rooftops of the different sections of the market.

The six-month project costs BD270, 000 and is expected to complete in 45 days.

He also called upon the public to submit any inquiries or complaints to Manama Central Market Markets Maintenance and Regulation Department on 17240500, the secretariat’s hotline on 80001855 or through the National Suggestion and Complaint system “Tawasul”.
