BKS Badminton begins tomorrow

Manama : The BKS OPTIMA Bahrain International Challenge (BIC) 2016 Badminton gets underway tomorrow at the Bahrain Keraleeya Samajam (BKS) Diamond Jubilee Hall and runs until Sunday and is being conducted by Bahrain Keraleeya Samajam (BKS), in association with the Bahrain Badminton and Squash Federation (BBSF).

The event is sanctioned by the Badminton World Federation (BWF) and Badminton Asia Confederation (BAC) with U$17,500 in prize money and carries world ranking points and attracts top ranked players from all over the world.

It will be played in men’s singles/doubles, women’s singles/doubles and mixed doubles.

Badminton Asia Confederation has appointed Zheng Sanliang from China as the Tournament Referee and assisted by Ashley George from Bahrain. Nahathai Sornprachum, who officiated as Deputy Referee at the Rio Olympics is also here as Badminton Asia Referee Assessor, Badminton Asia Events Manager,Chooi Weng Sheng will also arrive today for the tournament.

Around 100 players and officials from almost 10 countries are participating in the four day event; including India, Bahrain, Egypt, Pakistan, Malaysia, Indonesia, Russian, England and Belgium.

Matches will start at 6pm on all days except on Friday, the morning session will start at 10am and entry is free on all days.
