The Kingdom of Bahrain strongly condemned the continued attacks by the Iran-backed Houthi militia against Saudi Arabia, following the reported targeting of the Taibah power distribution station in Madinah, which supplies electricity to the Prophet’s Mosque.

In a statement issued on October 1, Bahrain’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs described the attack as a serious violation of international law, international humanitarian law and the charters of the United Nations and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation. The ministry also said the attack violated religious values and ethical norms and represented a dangerous escalation amid repeated targeting of the Two Holy Mosques and Islamic holy sites.

Bahrain reaffirmed its full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and support for measures taken by the Kingdom to safeguard its sovereignty, security, stability, and protect citizens and residents. The ministry stressed that Saudi Arabia’s security and stability are an integral part of Bahrain’s national security, while highlighting Saudi Arabia’s religious significance as home to the Two Holy Mosques.

Bahrain also renewed its call on the UN Security Council to fulfil its responsibilities and take firm action to stop repeated Houthi attacks targeting civilian facilities and religious sites, as well as civilians and visitors to the holy sites in Saudi Arabia.

The Foreign Ministry further called for the full implementation of relevant Security Council resolutions, including Resolution 2216 of 2015 and Resolution 2817 of 2026, which includes a call to halt support for proxies, saying such measures would contribute to protecting regional and international peace and security.
