Standard Chartered Bank Bahrain has announced the appointment of Dalal Ahmed Al Qais as its new Head of Retail Clients. Dalal’s appointment is considered yet another milestone for the Bank’s Bahrain franchise as she is not only the first Bahraini in this position but also the first female to take on the responsibility as Head of Retail Clients in Standard Chartered Bahrain.
She will be responsible for the overall implementation of the recently announced refreshed Retail Clients strategy in Bahrain as well as and management of innovative products and excellence in customer service. Hassan Amin Jarrar, Chief Executive Officer of Standard Chartered Bahrain said: “I am proud to announce Dalal as the first Bahraini and first female to ever become Country Head of Retail in the Bank since our inception in 1920. This is in line with one of our prime objectives of not only recruiting, but also developing qualified Bahrainis into senior roles.”
“Dalal is one of our outstanding senior team members where she has played a key role in successfully managing segments of the retail business in her previous roles. We also take pride in being the only international bank in Bahrain that has 70 per cent of its employees as Bahrainis where our branches are also 100pc operated by Bahrainis. Additionally, this is in line with the Supreme Council for Women and the Central Bank of Bahrain’s theme this year of celebrating women in banking and finance,” he said

Dalal joined Standard Chartered in 2003 in a frontline role and progressed to Head of Segments, and most recently, Head of Distribution. Over the past twelve months, Standard Chartered made key appointments in Bahrain where Shaikha Tareef was announced as the Bank’s first female CFO and Abulla Abdulrazzak Bukhowa was announced as the first Bahraini to head Corporate and Institutional Clients and Financial Markets.
