Bahrain projects scoop regional awards

Manama

Two of Bahrain’s flagship projects have been named by business intelligence service MEED among the region’s projects of the year.

The Awali Oil Field Project by Tatweer Petroleum has been selected as the GCC’s Oil & Gas Project of the Year and Ministry of Works’ Muharraq STP and Sewer Conveyance Project as the GCC Ramboll Sustainable Project of the Year.

The two projects were announced as GCC winners at the prestigious MEED Quality Awards for Projects 2015, in association with Mashreq, at a gala awards ceremony held in Dubai at MEED’s Construction Leadership Summit.

Tatweer Petroleum’s Awali Oil Field Project, which was nominated by New Water Corporation, was recognised for utilising the latest mobile water treatment technology to assist with its enhanced oil recovery operations, optimising the project’s overall productivity.

The Muharraq Sewage Treatment Plant Project, nominated by Muharraq STP Company, and its associated infrastructure was built to treat wastewater discharges from the island of Muharraq. The project is part of the Bahrain 2030 National Masterplan for Sanitary Engineering Services and has provided a high technology treatment facility to accommodate the island’s growing wastewater demands.
