Malaysian-made noodles "Maggi" sold in Bahrain markets are safe to eat, the health authorities announced yesterday.

"Lab tests conducted on random samples revealed safe level of lead, which do not pose any threat to consumers," the Health Ministry confirmed.

In a press statement, Assistant Undersecretary for Healthcare and Public Health Dr. Mariam Al Jalahma pointed out the noodles sold in Bahrain are mainly imported from Malaysia, not India.

This came following Indian reports that confirmed the detection of poisonous substances in Maggi noodles in its Indian markets.

“The precautionary lab tests followed the order, which was given to Nestle India to withdraw quantities of Maggi noodles from the market after it was found to contain high level of lead,” Dr. Al Jalahma added.
