On the sidelines of the Traffic Council meeting, the Interior Ministry signed a major agreement with Beyon, represented by its Chairman Shaikh Abdullah bin Khalifa Al Khalifa. Under the deal, the General Directorate of Traffic will be equipped with 500 advanced smart cameras capable of detecting various violations and providing an integrated monitoring system. The new technology is expected to significantly strengthen traffic control, modernise monitoring methods, and improve compliance with road safety laws.

The agreement was signed by Interior Ministry Undersecretary for Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs Shaikh Hisham bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa and Shaikh Abdullah bin Khalifa Al Khalifa.

The signing took place during the Traffic Council meeting chaired by Interior Minister General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, with several ministers in attendance. The meeting reviewed the implementation of the recent Royal Decree amending the Traffic Law, which introduced tougher penalties for violations to protect lives and property. The decree, issued under the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and supported by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, came into force on 22 August 2025.

Shaikh Rashid praised the positive impact of the decree, noting stronger public engagement and awareness. He emphasised that modernising traffic laws and enforcement is a continuous process aimed at reducing accidents and building a culture of responsibility on the roads.

The General Directorate of Traffic highlighted steps being taken, including intensive awareness campaigns, the use of smart systems to detect violations, and increased patrol presence across the Kingdom.

The council also discussed preparations for the new academic year. More than 50,000 students are expected to travel on 700 buses, with the Education Ministry working alongside traffic authorities to manage congestion. Training sessions and awareness workshops for school bus drivers were also organised to ensure student safety.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the Interior Minister thanked the members of the council for their dedication and round-the-clock efforts to enhance traffic flow and safety.
