Bahrain’s Ministry of Labor announced that private sector companies have shown near-total compliance with the summer midday work ban, with a 99.96% adherence rate recorded midway through the enforcement period this year.
The rule, issued under Ministerial Resolution No. 3 of 2013 and amended by Resolution No. 11 of 2025, prohibits outdoor work under direct sunlight from 12 noon to 4 p.m. between June 15 and September 15. The regulation aims to protect workers from heat stress and other summer-related health risks.
Aqeel Abdul Ali BuHussain, Assistant Undersecretary for Labor Relations, praised the strong commitment of businesses to ensuring a safe and healthy work environment. He said the high compliance rate reflects effective cooperation between the ministry and employers, as well as Bahrain’s commitment to international labor standards that prioritize workers’ rights and safety.
During this year’s inspections, the ministry’s team conducted 17,605 site visits and recorded only six violations affecting 12 workers. BuHussain commended the awareness shown by both employers and workers, noting that the decision has significant humanitarian benefits, helping prevent heat-related illnesses and improving overall productivity.
He added that the ministry continues its awareness campaigns through digital platforms to educate workers about the risks of heat stress and the importance of following safety measures.
“Bahrain remains committed to applying the highest standards of occupational health and safety, especially during the hot summer months, to protect workers from occupational injuries,” BuHussain said.
