Indian Envoy impressed by Jewellery Arabia

The open house by the Indian Embassy was held yesterday on the Embassy premises in Adliya.

The impressive Indian pavilion at the Jewellery Arabia 2015 was one the topics discussed at the media briefing following the open house.

Indian Ambassador Alok Kumar Sinha told reporters at the venue that he was impressed by the heavy turnout at the pavilion.

“I was quite encouraged by the footfall on the Indian pavilion. It was going on very well; the number of visitors is quite impressive. Jewellery is one of the important export items to India. India’s second largest export of gems and jewellery are to GCC countries. There has already been a very good base in terms of taking it forward from there.

They have a large number of importers from the gulf region, this type of participation in exhibitions also helps new entrants in this sector to come and present their new designs, new products and further expand the already booming bilateral trading between the two countries.” he said.

Sinha also gave an update on the progress of the amnesty period.

“Most of the Indians who wanted to leave to India by utilising the amnesty period has already got their travel documents. If there is a few who are waiting, for one reason or the other, we are ready to take care of that.” he said.
