Bahrain participates in GCC Statistical forum

Manama : Bahrain has participated in the First GCC Statistical Forum and accompanied exhibition aimed at strengthening statistical partnerships to support economic policies and GCC sustainable developments.
Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA) and Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) represented Kingdom at the event which was held under the patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz AlSaud – King of Saudi Arabia.
Entitled ‘Enhancing Statistical Partnerships to Support Economic Policies and Sustainable Development in the GCC Region’, the event was held from 20th – 22nd March in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia; and organised by the Saudi General Authority for Statistics and GCC Statistical Centre.
The event engaged a wide participation of GCC statistical centre heads, specialists, academics, and active experts in the statistical field, along with national policy makers, who seek to connect national programmes as well as implement the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Bahrain’s experiences in connecting government work programme with the SDGs along with the efforts of the National Information Committee in this field were showcased at the forum.
The Information & eGovernment Authority presented visitors of its stand with a presentation on National Platform of Open Data which provides a new system that seeks to distribute its statistical data; together with its projects related to the statistical work service in the Kingdom which contributes in supporting policies and decision-making to benefit individuals and the society.
