Vegas Jack wins feature event in Bahrain

Vegas Jack clinched the Late Shaikh Rashid bin Mohamed Al Khalifa Cup yesterday in the feature race at Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club (REHC) in Sakhir.

Vegas Jack took first place in the nine-furlong contest carrying a total prize of BD3,000 for Al Mohamediya Racing and Fawzi Nass, while ridden by Jason Watson.

Flame Spirit was the runner-up for Al Afoo Racing, Mohammed Hasan and Mathieu Pelletan, while Lazarus Dream came third for Al Mohamediya, Ali Abdulmajeed and Neil Callan.

The race marked the finale of a nine-event card, in which five other cups were up for the taking.

Al Nuwayef won the Al Bilad Newspaper Cup in race two, held over five furlongs with a BD3,000 prize.

The four-year-old gelding triumphed for Victorious and Fawzi Nass, while saddled by Stephane Ladjadj.

Miblish took second for Al Nuwayef Racing, Yousif Taher and Abdulrahim Jasim, while Waqiaah was third for Al Afoo, Mohammed Hasan and Hussain Asghar.

The two Spartan Fitness Cups were lifted by Elwasme and Alabrar.

Elwasme won in race eight, held over 12 furlongs with a BD2,000 prize, for Al Mohamediya, Ali Abdulmajeed and Neil Callan; while Alabrar triumphed in race five, held over seven furlongs with a BD2,000 prize, for Al Sairafi Syndicate, Osama Hashim and Husain Makki.

Two Royal Golf Club Cups were taken by Call The Wind and Uptoyouordowntome.

Call The Wind won in race four, held over seven furlongs with a BD2,000 prize, competing for L&L Racing, AM Smith and Edinson Rodriguez; while Uptoyouordowntome claimed first place in race three for M and E Racing, AM Smith and Andrew Elliott.

It was held over a six-furlong straight with BD2,000 in prize money.

The other trophy yesterday was the Safra Cup in race one—a WAHO event over five furlongs with a BD1,500 prize.

Musannan 1881 took the win for Al Khaldiya, Fawzi Nass and Rosie Jessop. Yesterday’s races were part of the 16th meeting of the REHC season.
