Bahrain Turf Series resumes today at REHC

The 2023/2024 Bahrain Turf Series continues today at Rashid Equestrian and Horseracing Club (REHC) in Sakhir with its latest two events headlining an exciting eight-race card. The Al Adiyat Cup by National Bank of Bahrain and Al Wasmiya Cup by Al Salam Bank are to be won in the third round of the prestigious $800,000 series, which features 10 races in total.

Each race features $80,000 in total prize money. The Al Adiyat Cup by National Bank of Bahrain is a middle-distance event covering nine furlongs, with six competitors declared. They include The Parent of Al Adiyat Racing, Zagato of Al Mohamediya Racing and the Al Afoo Racing quartet of Mehmento, Man of Eden, Sovereign Spirit and Young Ireland.

In the Al Wasmiya Cup by Al Salam Bank—a sprint over five furlongs—a field of 18 are entered. Al Adiyat are represented by Instinctive Move, Powertrain and Rebel At Dawn, while Al Mohamediya sees Edward Cornelius in the fray. Al Afoo have three horses competing, including Ocean Star, Ananna, and Maystar.

The other horses are Amaan racing for owner Mohamed Jasim Jaafar, Anthem National for James and Susan Cookson, Brazen Bolt for Fishlake Commercial Motors Ltd, Fighter Pilot for Esnaad Racing, Four Wheel Drive for Gunners Racing, Get It for MyRacehorse and Partners, Ibn Arabi for Al Nasser Syndicate, JM Jungle for MPS Racing Ltd and The Ayrshire Tradesmen, Nationwide for Victorious, Squealer for Martin Webb Racing, Dairerin for Onyx Racing, who will be looking for a second win in this season’s Bahrain Turf Series.

Dairerin had previously clinched the Al Manama Cup in the series’ first meeting last month. Other winners so far are Isle of Jura in the Al Muharraq Cup, Lucander in the Al Dana Cup and Rocket Rodney in the Riffa Cup. Running from December of last year through to February, the Bahrain Turf Series provides opportunities for internationally trained runners (rated 85 to 100) to compete against local Bahrain-based horses across 10 races.

Each race is worth $80,000 with bonus prizes for the horses accumulating most points in the two divisions, sprint and middle distance. Also taking place today at REHC are six other races. The Huntsman Cup will be up for grabs in race three with a $12,000 total prize.

In the other races, each offering $8,000 in winnings, two HH Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa Cups will be won in races one and two, the HH Shaikh Hamad bin Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa Cup will be in race six, the HH Shaikh Abdulla bin Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa Cup will be won in race seven, and the HH Shaikh Salman bin Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa Cup will be won in race eight.
