The Kingdom’s most talented karters are back in action this weekend as back-to-back rounds of the 2023/2024 Bahrain Rotax MAX Challenge (BRMC) take place in Sakhir. Bahrain International Circuit’s (BIC) world-class grassroots motorsport facility, Bahrain International Karting Circuit (BIKC), is set to host the BRMC’s second and third rounds of the season today and tomorrow, respectively.

The BRMC features individual racers competing against one another in sprint races in their very own Rotax-powered karts. Action in each meeting this weekend is scheduled to flag off at 11.20am with the qualifying practices. The pre-finals are scheduled for 12.28pm onwards, setting the stage for the finals from 2.16pm.

Racing is set to wrap up around 4.30pm, with the podium ceremonies scheduled for around 5pm. All are welcome to attend. Entrance to BIKC is free of charge. The competitors are set to go wheel-to-wheel in the championship’s various categories. Each class comprises karters of different ages and nationalities who will be showcasing their abilities along BIKC’s 1.414-kilometre CIK-FIA track.

Tariq Sooife, Nasser Nass, Khaled Najjar, Rashid Khalifa and Mohammed Wally all emerged triumphant in the exciting season-opener held December of last year. Tariq was the winner in the Micro MAX category, while Nasser finished first in the Mini MAX category. Khaled claimed the Junior MAX victory, Khalifa captured the Senior MAX win, and Wally took the top podium step in the DD2 MAX class. Plenty will be on the line this weekend with double the points up for grabs along with pride and bragging rights.

The BRMC is being organised and run by BIC and BIKC in cooperation with the Bahrain Motor Federation and Bahrain Karting Commission. Its 2023/2024 calendar features eight rounds in all. Following this weekend’s events, round four is scheduled for 26 January, followed by another double-header on 9 and 10 February for rounds five and six. The BRMC’s penultimate meeting will then take place on 23 February, paving the way for the championship finale on 8 March.
