Bahraini-British motor racing team 2 Seas Motorsport yesterday locked out the second row on the grid for the third round of the 2023 Intelligent Money British GT Championship, being held this weekend at Silverstone Circuit in the UK.

2 Seas’ pairing of Ian Loggie and Jules Gounon in their #1 Mercedes-AMG GT3 car will start from third after clocking a combined time of four minutes 29.060 seconds between them in the day’s second practice yesterday.

Teammates James Cottingham and Jonny Adam will be right beside them in fourth. They had a team best time of 4:29.067.

This weekend’s race is scheduled to take place today at 2.20pm, Bahrain time.

It will be a three-hour event. Qualifying was supposed to be held yesterday but was abandoned due to rain.

The combined lap times from the practice two thus determined the grid.

Capturing pole were Team Abba Racing’s Richard Neary and Sam Neary, who were a mere 0.175 seconds ahead of Loggie and Gounon. RAM Racing’s John Ferguson and Raffaele Marciello, who were 0.173s from the leaders.

2 Seas are looking to continue their fine start to the season in Silverstone.

They had previously enjoyed a fantastic double in the opening double-header held at Oulton Park last month, when Adam and Cottingham triumphed in race one and then Loggie and Gounon won race two.

To go with their superb double, 2 Seas also came away with the British GT’s all-new Intelligent Money Team of the Weekend Award.

The 2023 British GT season is set to feature nine races in all, to be held over seven meetings.

Following this weekend’s action, the next events will then take place at Donington Park on May 27 and 28, Snetterton on June 17 and 18, Autodromo do Algarve in Portugal on July 22 and 23, Brands Hatch on September 9 and 10, and then Donington Park again for the season-finale on October 21 and 22.
