Subotić Takes Charge of Bahrain Basketball
Trophy-winning coach tasked with strengthening FIBA campaign

Slovenian coach Slobodan Subotić has been handed Bahrain’s senior men’s basketball team as the kingdom turns to a seasoned European figure before its next Asian qualifying campaign.
The Bahrain Basketball Association has signed Subotić to lead the side through its coming matches, led by the first Asian qualifying round on the road to the FIBA Asia Cup.
Subotić has coached some of Europe’s best-known clubs, including Panathinaikos, Olympiacos, Aris and AEK Athens. He has also taken charge of the national teams of Slovenia and Lebanon.
His honours include the FIBA Korać Cup, two Greek league titles and the Greek Cup. He was twice named coach of the year in the Greek league.
The appointment gives Bahrain an experienced hand as they seek to build a stronger campaign in Asian basketball.
