China’s Zhang Qiaochu wins Boys’ Cycling Time Trial gold

China’s Zhang Qiaochu powered to victory in the Boys’ Individual Time Trial at the Asian Youth Games Bahrain 2025, completing the NBH Loop course in 21:45.65 with an average speed of 45.8 km/h.

He edged out Hsieh Chihhsiang of Chinese Taipei, who took silver in 21:47.64, while Thailand’s Kittaphat Homkajorn earned bronze in 21:50.39— a close battle among the top three, separated by less than five seconds.

Riders faced early-morning humidity and light winds on the fast Bahrain circuit, demanding careful pacing and control. Shoislom Shoakmalov of Uzbekistan finished fourth in 22:25.78, and Falah Alnuaimi of the United Arab Emirates came fifth in 22:34.34.

India’s Aditya Jakhar, Vietnam’s Tran Khoi Minh, and Indonesia’s Hukman Al Fazl followed closely, with Saudi Arabia’s Taha Alkhalifah and the Philippines’ CJ Cabreros completing the top ten.

Bahrain’s Hasan Thamer, representing the host nation, placed 17th with a time of 23:52.33. The result added another strong performance for China, continuing Medal-winning cyclists celebrate on the NBH Loop podium their success across the Games.
