Ebrahim Al Mubarak regained the lead in the season two title race of the Bahrain Esport Gran Turismo Championship, after winning the fourth and penultimate round to increase his chances of successfully defending his crown.

After finishing the previous meeting outside of the podium, Al Mubarak took the chequered flag in style, completing the 13-lap race around the fictional Croatian track Dragon Trail-Seaside in 20 minutes 58.620 seconds—comfortably ahead of runner-up Asif Vorajee who was 07.786 seconds behind.

Al Mubarak’s chief title rival Lewis Smith came third 10.916s back to keep his championship aspirations alive and send the campaign to a thrilling finale. Al Mubarak heads into the season-closer, scheduled for tomorrow, just two points ahead of Smith. He has 75 points in the first place while Smith has 73. Talal Beshara is a distant third with 54 points.

Beshara was just behind the top three on the fourth round’s classification, while Abdulla Sami Qamber and Ali Khalifa Almansoori rounded out the top six. Khalid Saeed Husain, Ahmed Yusuf Ahmed, Husain Alsakran, Hassan Khalil Ebrahim, and Husain Ali Hasan were seventh through 11th, respectively, to complete the race’s finishers.

Al Mubarak added to his round four victories by setting the race’s fastest lap of 1:35.893. Tomorrow’s final meeting will be held along a virtual version of Japan’s Suzuka Circuit. Supported by Bahrain International Circuit, DHL, VP Racing Fuels, and Batelco, the Esport GT series is being organized and run by the Bahrain Motor Federation (BMF), and it is being held under the patronage of BMF president Shaikh Abdulla bin Isa Al Khalifa. It is taking place within the framework established by the International Automobile Federation on Esports.
