Bahrain’s Ibrahim Al Tamimi has expressed his satisfaction following his standout performance at the Barcelona Half Marathon, where he finished 43rd among more than 36,000 runners, clocking 1:03:25 — the fastest time ever recorded by a Bahraini athlete at the event.
Speaking after the race, Al Tamimi described the result as an important milestone in his progression. “I am very happy with this achievement,” he said. “I thank HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa and HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa for their continued support, as well as the Royal Guard, who were my official sponsors. This achievement is not the end of the road, but the beginning as I prepare for upcoming races, including the night marathon. InshAllah, the next step will be even better.”
Al Tamimi noted the high level of competition in Barcelona, highlighting the presence of world-class distance runners, including cross-country champions and athletes with elite half marathon credentials. He added that the strong field and challenging conditions made the performance more meaningful and provided added motivation to continue improving.
Beyond the personal result, Al Tamimi emphasised that his participation carries a broader purpose. He hopes his performance will encourage young Bahrainis to pursue sport and competitive running, with the aim of seeing future athletes represent the Kingdom at the highest levels in the Gulf and internationally.
