Kuwaiti doctor Dr Sara Khuraibet has made history after winning the Dr. and Mrs. Gerald M. Kramer Scholar Award for Excellence in Periodontology and Dental Implant Surgery, presented by the American Academy of Periodontology and Dental Implantology.

The academy said Dr Khuraibet is the first Kuwaiti and Gulf national to receive the award since it was established. The Kramer Award is one of the leading awards in the field and is given each year to one doctor from accredited periodontology programmes across the United States.

Dr Khuraibet was nominated by her academic programme and was selected as one of three finalists nationwide before being chosen as the winner.

The achievement reflects her academic and professional excellence, as well as her contributions to research, education and patient care. It also highlights the achievements of Kuwaiti medical professionals at major international medical events.

Dr Khuraibet, who works at Kuwait’s Ministry of Health, said the award motivates her to continue working hard to serve patients and the community.

She thanked everyone who supported her throughout her academic and professional career, noting that the award recognises academic, professional and personal excellence.
